Computec would be conducting a basic computer repair and maintenance
course.
The Course is Intended to Serve the Following Purpose:
- To Sensitize individuals about the importance of computer maintenance.
- To provide computer users in St. Vincent and the Grenadines with the
necessary skill needed for basic computer maintenance.
- To enhance the technical skills of participants.
- To give the participant the opportunity to assemble and own a Pentium
Computer.
Entry Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of MS DOS and Windows 95/98/XP
- Knowledge of how computers works.
- Familiarity with common application software (eg. Ms Office, Lotus)

Duration of Course and Times:
The course is expected to run for ten (10) days Monday to Thursday 5:00 pm -
7:00 pm.
Course Outline:
- Computer Architecture: Hardware and Software, Firmware, System Board
- Microprocessors 286 to Pentium
- Memory and Memory Management
- Expansion Slots (PCI, PCMI, Vesa)
- Basic Networking Installation
- Software Installation (MS Office2000, Anti Virus, etc...)
Practical:
- Installing Hard Drive, Floppy Disk, Cd-Rom's, Sound Card and Modem.
- Setting up the Internet .
- Installing Windows 98/XP.
- Installing Application Software: Office2000, Lotus Smart Suite2000,
Anti Virus Software.
- Dis-Assembling and Re-Assembling Computer Systems.
- Setting up Laser and Inkjet Printers and Installing Ink Cartridges /
Toners.
